2026 Kenya KAD Pauline Muturi Sonn UnderTheNakedSun

Oil pastels on paper, 39cm×27cm

The piece shows a dry area, where the sun burns from morning to evening,no clouds to cover the rays and reduce the penalty of its damage. Below the naked sun is a well, toilet , people, dried up trees. Through climate change and lack of water this has resulted in drought in some areas, social stress, economical and political negligence.

The well and toilet are a symbolism of desperation.Behind the well stands a man in a suit,he is a leader a politician smoking a cigarette, below the well on the ground are some cigarettes filters these symbolise an addiction to corruption he uses his power to take advantage on the desperate villagers by giving them the bare minimum he raises his hands as if waiting to be acknowledged and praised
