Global warming, environmental destruction is a reality that we cannot afford to ignore. Mother nature is urging us to open our third eye and wake up to our new realities; Mother nature is pleading with us to preserve our environment; conservation is not a myth. For us to have a functional ecological transformation, we need to change our attitude towards our flora and fauna so as to ensure that there is continuity in our life cycle.

Makau Joseph Musungu, popularly known as Ango, is a contemporary Kenyan artist whose work explores the poetic and surreal dimensions of everyday life. Through a fusion of color, symbolism, realism, and textured surfaces, he reflects on human experiences, emotions, and social narratives. His artistic style, which he terms “Angology,” blends elements of abstract art, realism, and poetic expression to create visually layered and thought-provoking compositions.

Ango studied Fine Art at Kenyatta University, where he earned both a diploma and a degree. During his early years at the university, he began developing the distinctive visual language that now defines his practice. His work has been exhibited and collected by institutions such as the National Museums of Kenya, Karen Country Club, Royal Golf Club, McKinsey & Company, and the Embassy of Iran. He has also participated in numerous exhibitions including Kenya Art Fair, Affordable Art Show, Kesho Afrika, and Art in Isolation. Influenced by African masks, landscapes, and human expression, Ango views the human form as a powerful vessel for storytelling and emotion.
