4 photographic prints with epoxy resin and embedded mixed materials. 58 x 40cm (each piece)
My work Interlayers (Zwischenschichten) examines the multifaceted nature and complexity of identities in times of increasing social polarization and intersecting crises. It depicts encounters with queer individuals on equal footing, who are not reduced to stereotypical characteristics.
The work is composed of various materials such as synthetic resin, natural materials and colors applied to photographic surfaces. The selection of materials follows an intuitive response to each portrayed individual. During the drying process, resin undergoes physical transformations that influence the final appearance of color, form and materiality.
The interplay of transparent and organic textures generates tactile and visual depth, reflecting the layered constitution of identity. Smooth surfaces contrast with rough structures, suggesting both clarity and complexity. Interlayers invites viewers to look beyond the surface recognize the richness of human diversity.
