The artwork Deep Leverage Point emerges in a world shaped by overlapping crises. It addresses issues of equality, role models, self-determination and human dignity. It focuses on social power relations and how they are embedded in structures. The work was inspired by an in-depth exploration of women's rights in Russia. Political reality and individual experiences intersect. The title refers to profound leverage points operating within both social systems and individuals.
In terms of content, the work ties in with Article 1 of the Declaration of Human Rights. Freedom, equality, and dignity appear here within a political and social context. Traditional role models are addressed, with the body becoming a site for social expectations and norms. The artistic inspiration comes from Pussy Riot and Olek. Activism, colourfulness, and textile elements shape the visual language. The combination of handicrafts and bold colour creates tension.
The artwork traces a process of liberation within patriarchal structures situated in a wider landscape of overlapping crisis. It relies on visibility and provocation while allowing ambivalences to remain unresolved.
