In the context of 'Light Soup' I connect the physical descriptions associated with pots to the characterization of the human self. Pots are described especially by makers to possess body, foot, neck, shoulders as these traits symbolically mimic the human persona. This set the base for me to cast these sculptures as representation of myself and the audience who come to view the show 'Light Soup'. In searching for these objects, there is a physical rendition to the process of searching for my inner self, and the vessel as metaphor of the human body puts this search in sync with the process. Lighting the inside of the hanging sculptures suggestively provides the inner soul of the piece.
The assembling of pottery shards connotes a process of locating the different characters that mimic my personality; the moral aspect, psychological, and the extended. I stitch these various parts by revealing the fault lines while appreciating the scarring as a process of healing. In the exhibition, I am interested in how the audience engages with these forms through personal interactions and associations.
