Acrylics on canvas, 80 cm x 60cm
This painting is the sixth of the mother and child series that started in 2019, done in 2025. This painting shows a mother and her child, with vibrant colors to draw the viewer in. As seen, the mother is well dressed to show her class as a business woman, which means she is capable of caring for her child and cater for their well-being. Because of her wealth she is able to give the child a good life, one where the child does not struggle with what is necessary and basic. The environment and well-being of her child is dependent on her economic ability, which will be reflected on the child’s life as she grows.

Gichia Mwathi. Beautiful rock. 2024. Acrylics on canvas. 90 cm x 70cm
This is a painting from a photograph taken on the coastline of Scotland. The objective in painting this is to provide for the viewer a tranquil effect that is present when visiting the beach. It is a visual escape that is absent of the sand of the sea and the smell of the ocean.

Gichia Mwathi. I've always shown admiration and a keen interest in the visual arts. I have been inspired by both mentors and peers since I was a little child. My family and friends, who are aware of my passion for art, have been my primary aid. I have a tendency toward impressionism because I continuously try to capture the essence of nature with my brushstrokes, which are comparatively thin, small, yet noticeable, and indicate movement.
