XR HUB Bavaria is an initiative of Medien.Bayern GmbH dedicated to strengthening Bavaria as a leading location for Extended Reality (XR) media and digital economy, supported by the Bavarian State Ministry for Digital Affairs and the Bavarian Regulatory Authority for new media (BLM). The project explores the vast potential of Extended Reality (XR) technologies across various sectors. The collaboration with Exploring Visual Cultures (EVC) focuses on the intersection of technology, culture, and education. It serves as a vital bridge between the XR community, research institutions, and the cultural and creative industries, fostering knowledge transfer and transnational exchange.

A key pillar of this cooperation is the advancement of digital literacy and innovative pedagogy. Through initiatives like the XRXplorer School, the HUB supports educational institutions in integrating XR technologies into the classroom, creating a network of schools that redefine learning in the 21st century. Furthermore, with the development of XR Spaces, the HUB provides virtual environments, also for the EVC community, to meet, learn, and co-create. By merging digital innovation with cultural storytelling, XR HUB Bavaria and EVC aim to explore how immersive technologies can transform our understanding of visual cultures and enhance global educational dialogue. Example: Exhibition Sankofa by Students from the University in Winneba in the XR HUB Gallery (Link).
