Karin Guggeis is a cultural scientist and employed at the Museum Fünf Kontinente in Munich since over 25 years in different departments. Her special interests are African Art, the biography of objects, art and values, provenance research and globalisation. She did her master thesis about the representation of Africa and Africans in contemporary Bavarian schoolbooks. Her dissertation Star oder Loser? Zum Making-of der Karrieren von Objekten in einem ethnologischen Museum (Star or Loser? Careers of objects in an ethnological museum -The Making of ) will be published soon. Since November 2019 she is the overall directrice of the provenance research project „The ´Blue-Rider´s Post´ and the collection of Max von Stetten (1893 – 1896) from Cameroon in the Museum Fünf Kontinente München“ which is funded by the German Center Losses of Cultural Goods and the Bavarian State Ministry of Science and Art.
