The Technical University of Kenya is honored to present this body of artworks for EVC’s 4th edition of thematic exhibitions at the Creative Arts and Culture International Research Conference hosted at The Centre for Research in Culture and Creative Arts (CeRCCA), School of Creative Arts, University of Education, Winneba. Framed by the conference theme, SANKOFAISM: Unearthing, Unlearning/Learning, and Uplifting, and the exhibition theme, The World in Polycrises: Art Driving Change,” these works respond to the urgent realities of our time—ecological collapse, displacement, digital disruption, social fragmentation, and widening inequalities. Through animation, design, sculpture, painting, and interactive media, the artists reflect on how creative practice can illuminate crisis while also offering spaces for resilience, imagination, and renewal.

Some of the selected works from The Technical University of Kenya demonstrate how art can function as both critical inquiry and transformative action. They demonstrate the power of creative practice to engage with pressing global issues while remaining rooted in African contexts and knowledge systems Projects such as The Floating Futures, Kaya Moja, Mwana wa Mataifa, Flickering Light, and Buni engage issues of sustainability, cultural preservation, memory, childhood imagination, and community responsibility. Together, they embody Sankofaism by retrieving cultural wisdom, reinterpreting indigenous knowledge, and uplifting creative responses that are both locally grounded and globally relevant. These works affirm the role of the visual arts as powerful tools for understanding complexity, preserving heritage, and shaping more just and hopeful futures. They affirm that art not only documents lived realities but also inspires new possibilities for sustainability, cultural preservation, and inclusive development in a rapidly changing world
