Dear readers, supporters, contributors and friends of EVC,

EVC is a partner in a hybrid conference on the topic Transcultural relations and colonial legacies. Restitution beyond objects, cultural memory and digital mediation.

The international conference focuses on transcultural relations and colonial legacies from both European and African perspectives. Structured around three thematic areas, it addresses questions relating to African cultural heritage and the intangible dimensions of restitution, community-centred and pluriversal memory cultures, as well as decolonial digital practices. The conference is part of the two‑year project “Reframing Colonial Legacies”, co-organised by Zeppelin University and the University of Cape Coast and funded by the German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD).

It will take place in hybrid format at Zeppelin University in Friedrichshafen on 5 and 7 May 2026 and is aimed at an international audience from academia and cultural practice.
